What is Icelandic Lamb Tallow?

Icelandic lamb tallow is a premium cooking fat rendered from the suet of Iceland's free-roaming lambs. It's nutrient-dense, shelf-stable, and built for high-heat cooking.

What Makes Icelandic Lamb Tallow Different?

It starts with the source. Our tallow comes exclusively from lambs that graze freely across Iceland's highlands their entire lives with no confinement, grain, added hormones, or antibiotics. Their freedom and diet shape the fat itself, creating a tallow that’s cleaner, richer, and more nutrient-dense than any other tallow on the market.

How is Icelandic Tallow Rendered?

We start with pure Icelandic lamb suet and render it slowly at controlled, low temperatures. Once the fat has rendered, it is finely filtered to remove impurities before being poured into glass jars. We don't add chemicals, deodorizers, preservatives, or other ingredients.

How do I Use Lamb Tallow?

Lamb tallow is extremely versatile in the kitchen. You can use it for high-heat frying, roasting vegetables, searing meat, baking or seasoning cast iron. It brings a rich, distinctive flavor to everything you cook. Some people also use it as a base for skincare formulations or as a direct moisturizer for the face and body.

Can I Use Lamb Tallow for Skincare?

Yes. Many people use lamb tallow as a base for home skincare formulations due to its nutrient density and compatibility with the skin. Its fatty acid and vitamin composition actually mirrors your skin's natural oils, making it an excellent foundation for custom balms, salves, or serums. You can also use it directly as a moisturizer.

What is the Smoke Point of Lamb Tallow?

The smoke point of lamb tallow is approximately 420°F (215°C), which makes it the perfect cooking oil for frying, roasting, and high-heat cooking.

What is Icelandic Lamb Tallow Best Used
for In the Kitchen?

Lamb tallow is exceptionally versatile in the kitchen. It can be used anywhere you'd traditionally reach for a cooking oil or other cooking fat. Its high smoke point makes it ideal for frying, roasting, sautéing, baking, and searing, while its rich flavor makes it especially good for dishes where you want the cooking fat to contribute to the finished dish.

What is the Difference Between
Beef and Lamb Tallow?

Both are rendered animal fats, but the animal they come from gives them different characteristics. Lamb tallow tends to have a more distinctive, savory flavor, while beef tallow is generally milder and more neutral. Lamb tallow is particularly well suited to roasted vegetables, potatoes, meats, baking, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes, and other recipes where its flavor can complement the food.

The choice ultimately comes down to the flavor and character you want in your cooking.

What is the Shelf Life of my
Jar of Icelandic Lamb Tallow?

Your jar of lamb tallow will last 18 months at room temperature when stored in a cool, dry place, up to 2 years in the refrigerator, and 3 years or more in the freezer. Because tallow is a stable fat with no water content, it doesn't go rancid like seed oils do

What Does Free-Roaming Mean?

For Icelandic lambs, free-roaming is a way of life. These animals graze across Iceland's highlands with no fences, no confinement, and no boundaries. They move where they want and eat what they find. This is fundamentally different from grass-fed or grass-finished, which still implies managed pasture or supplemental feeding. Free-roaming means the animal is wild-fed, eating diverse vegetation and foraging like sheep have for centuries. The result is tallow of unmatched purity and nutrient density, shaped by the animal's freedom and Iceland's pristine environment.
